The following is a listing of some programs I share with students.
What does an author do? The writing process is investigated: editing, production and finally the party (a brand new book!). Since I write fiction and non-fiction, students will find out how art, science and stories come together for creative fun. This visit includes things to see and touch. Some books are available for loan. This session can be tailored to suit the needs of your classroom.
The writing and publishing process is discussed in the light of my personal journey. This program stresses the importance of creative play, keeping a journal and reading books. It also includes a lesson on the value of literacy.
Words and Pictures
In this session, students learn about the power of words. They will complete fun interactive exercises. Students will draw a self portrait and give themselves new names, play a create an animal game and learn to doodle with free writing.
In this session, students will write poems. They will explore the language of our feelings through Haiku, shape poems and personified poems.
In this session, students examine familiar tales for beginnings, middles and ends. The concept of story boarding will be introduced. Students will write a script for a provided comic book page.

This workshop session is a serious writing workout. Participants stretch their writing muscles. This workshop guides writers to mine emotions, senses and relationships to bring absolute honesty to personal work. Finally this workshop, offers a jumpstart to a writing journey or a push along the way for those who already write.
Create a synopsis to showcase your work in this a hands-on-workshop to help authors write a synopsis that reveals character motivation, specific setting, the rising action of a plot, the emotional landscape of a story, and the unique voice that sets a piece apart.
